Popular Q & A for Laser Hair Removal

Q 1: Is laser hair removal (LHR) is still effective for you or not?

Q 2: Why some lasers are more effective than others in removing hair long-term, or in many cases, permanently?

Here’s my answer:

Customers need to find therapists who is not only have passion, time, dedication & devotion to customers’ results and overall health, but also understanding the science of the treatments they perform and their machines/devices they are using. Your therapists need to understand & be able to apply this principle, click!

To obtain ultimate greater reduction from laser, laser hair removal won’t be effective unless customers follow instructions (2 links) below:

Both therapists and customers also need to understand these => click here!

If both therapists and customers are following the principle mentioned above, they should both achieve greater than 85-95% hair reduction within initial 4-6 treatment sessions within initial 2 yrs of LHR course. Then in many cases customers can achieve permanent hair reduction for the rest of their life, but some cases some customers are being 85-95% hair reduction for another 4-6 yrs, then they may see significant hair regrowth and require additional 1-2 LHR treatment sessions.

Since 2017 when I started providing laser hair removal services, all of my clients saw significant changes after 1st LHR treatment and achieved greater than 80-95% hair reduction within initial 4-6 treatment sessions within initial 2 years. Then many of those clients never required additional LHR treatments up to now, but some clients required 1-2 more sessions 4-6 years after their last LHR treatment done by me.

Based on my records, I have 2 clients that LHR wasn't effective for their back hair & few more for top lip.

  1. 1. Hair follicles must become inflamed around 5-15 mins after they get hit by light beam. More severe inflammation indicates better result. Mild inflammation or no inflammation post treatment indicates that your ultimate result to have permanent hair reduction/removal is ruined forever.

    2. Your hair should fall out/shed within 1-2 weeks after the treatment.

If you do NOT experience these 2 events, that LHR treatment session isn't efficacious.

  2. To achieve ultimate maximum reduction results long-term or permanently, decent powerful machines (sufficient high output power in watts) is one of factors to help achieve this goal, but therapist is the main factor.
Laser therapist shouldn’t be too easy with the energy settings. Why?
Because any light therapies (Diode, IPL, laser and etc.) work with colours, they aren’t effective and lose efficacy in treating light, sparse hair. That is devices/machines become less efficient in treating next successive treatment session when hair get reduced. It is more difficult to treated light colored & sparse hair.

Leaving settings to experts, clients should never dictate any therapists regarding settings. Just change to ones with right knowledge, skills & experience.
If you tell therapists to use higher settings, they can over treat you. Sensation of continuous excruciating pain and burning, like you are constantly on fire for over a week or so isn’t fun.

The settings (wavelengths, pulse width, Hz, fluence, spot sizes) are not only factors. Therapists need to know their machines like how many passes (not the same as Hz), actual power outputs at different settings, clients’ skin colors, hair characteristics and etc. required to build heat of hair follicles to around 70-75 degree Celsius to destroy follicles but not over treating client's skins. Therapists also need to know how to pre- & post-cool clients' skins to prevent overtreatment from LHR & freeze burn.

Not one setting even from the same machine of the same model is suitable for clients with similar skin colours. Some can’t be treated with higher settings because they get over treated or burnt.

In general, the higher the settings, with multiples passes to go over the same follicles over & over the better the long-term/permanent reduction results. But some clients might still not get much results in some body areas & get over treated the other areas in that particular treatment session. So leave setting to therapists.

  3. In AU, LHR services r dirt cheap because big franchised laser clinics have ruined the service charges & won’t give clients proper results.

Effective laser hair removal is painful & require time to provide thorough treatments. This is the reason why I dare to charge my LHR services a bit higher than franchised businesses cause many clients came to me because they couldn’t achieve “result” after too multiple sessions elsewhere.

Majority of my clients (not all) achieved greater than 85-95% permanent hair reduction within 4 treatments & I told my clients when they should cease the treatments if LHR wasn’t effective for them.

  4. The worst-case scenario: 3 months after 4 LHR treatments, your hair must be at least 70% reduced & less than 30% remains. Otherwise change therapist/laser clinic or light-based therapy isn't effective for you.

    1. If you don't, you may end up with more hair stimulated by laser, IPL, diode, LED, LLLT & other optical therapies.

    2. Even if diode, IPL & laser tend to have unpredictable results among different individuals, initially up to around 4-6 treatments within 1 ½ – 2 yrs are typically required to achieve maximum hair reduction (of at least 85-95% hair reduction), and I believe that further treatments can induce hair growth.
